What do you think?

I think Daddy is a little overprotective already! :) I told him that bubble wrap would be easier....

The BIG 1-0

My first born niece, Demmi was born 10 years ago on February 25, 2002. We celebrated on Saturday with a big party at WOGA Gymnastics. I still remember the day that Andrea had Demmi. She went into the hospital (overdue) and was induced early in the morning. I came home from Austin for the weekend, so I could be there for her arrival. My mom and I were at the hospital and Andrea's doctor said it was going to be awhile, so we went home to take a quick nap. Little did we know, that Miss Demmi was ready to make her grand entrance.... We barely made it back to the hospital after her arrival.

Demmi's cake with homemade cake topper

I always make the goodie bags for Demmi's birthday party, and after spending a small fortune on plastic toys and candy last year, I decided we were going to do something different this year. Demmi chose Monster High as the theme for her party this year and of course there is NOTHING in the store that you can buy with that theme... so, I had to get crafty. I found these GREAT Monster High Cake pops (the big thing right now) on-line. I ordered those, but I made everything else. (I ordered the cake pops here: http://jessicakesproject.blogspot.com/2011/12/monster-high-cake-pops.html )

We had a GREAT time celebrating Demmi's BIG 10th birthday. We are so proud of her for growing into such a smart, beautiful, caring little lady. Happy Birthday Demmi. We LOVE you!

We have a SITTER!

It's official! Not only do we have a 6 MONTH OLD, but our little girl is sitting up on her own! She did it for the first time on Friday night, the night before her half birthday. It's actually pretty amazing how strong she is and how long she is able to stay upright. She usually starts to topple over when she is reaching for a toy or gets excited.

Aunt Mimi, Mackenzie and Andrew came for a visit on Saturday.

Aunt Kelly came over on Sunday and we went to Madi's sister Lisa's baby shower.

HI Scooby

Sleeping

So, I've been trying not to jinx myself, but Ashley has been sleeping almost 12 hours every night since she was about 12 weeks old. When I was out on maternity leave, I read several books with different methods to get your baby to sleep through the night. I took ideas from two books (12 Hours' Sleep by 12 Weeks & Baby Wise), and apparently it worked... :) I'm a little nervous though because I can feel the beginning of two little teeth poking through her bottom gums. I've heard teething can disrupt a good sleeping routine, but I'm really hoping that we can get through it without many sleepless nights.

On a similar note, this is how I found our little Ashley sleeping a few days ago... It scared me so bad because all the books and everyone says that it is such a BIG NO NO for babies to sleep on their stomach due to SIDS. But, I guess it's just another sign that our girl is growing up.

Where Is the Time Going??

So, I know that everyone says "enjoy this time because it goes by so fast...," but seriously, where is the time going? We had more firsts this week than I'm really ready for...
1st Try with the Sippy Cup.. I think we'll try again in a few weeks
sweet potatoes

Holding her own bottle
So, I know I should be super excited about her holding her own bottle (although it only lasts for a few seconds) and attempting to drink from a sippy cup (she just chews on it at the moment), and having her first taste of vegetables, but it makes me kinda sad.. I'm not ready for our "newborn" to not be a little bitty baby anymore. I'm just trying to enjoy every second with our little Missy!
